Your Success or Failure is Dependent Only on You

People are freaking out.

An election just happened and it didn’t go the way that a large many wanted it to. For some reason, now they are speaking up and making their voices heard, but they are also spreading a fear and delusion that this one event and this one person is going to mean tragedy for them and the success of their lives.

These people are looking externally for the answers within their lives. A man asked me, “Who do we turn to in times like this, our priests, our elders, our government or who?”

My answer to him was very simple:

“It’s time to turn your attention within.”

While this thinking that this external event is going to have great meaning for our lives, many are thinking failure, these people are well-intended and they just want success for themselves and equal opportunities for others’ success as well.

They come to see the world as a place that is impacting them and this can of course be true, but you have little control over what the world is going to do.

This focus on an external event such as an election meaning the world for you is flawed. It is only going to bring your attention to more of what you can’t control.

You have the power to control your thoughts and your focus.

Some are posting on social media thoughts of how bad things are going to get or worries about something that hasn’t even happened yet. All of this mental energy and all of these thoughts are simply wasted time and emotions that could be better placed elsewhere.

An intention for a better world is always good, but it is never going to be accomplished through hate, worry, and pessimism. We have to look to positivity, inspiration, and joy, but these are all internal feelings that come from within.

You and only you have the control over your success or failure in life.

Just as you are the only one who has the power to control your emotions, so it is also that you are the only one that controls the destiny of your life.

It’s not an accident that you are here and in fact a miracle.

While people or events may play a part into your short-term success, there is no one standing in the way of your long-term success but you. Wherever you are, there is someone somewhere that has it worse then you. There is also likely someone who has made it through those circumstances as well.

I’ve heard the excuses. I heard the reasons that people can’t, but just the other day I met a man from Africa. He struggled growing up, and could have been living in a jungle, but somehow he found a way out. His story led to him making millions of dollars to a point where travels today and teaches others successfully.

You have the choice to focus on all these external circumstances that you have no control over. You can bring your attention to negativity and why you cannot win or you have the option of focusing on winning.

When your focus is on something external to yourself such as a government leader that hasn’t even done anything, then you limit yourself. This focus is nothing but a creation of the mind and is nothing but made up thoughts, worries, and beliefs.

Focusing on these things is doing little to lead to your success.

Mother Teresa once said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

Instead of focusing on negatives, things that haven’t happened, or anything else that has nothing to do with your success, focus instead on your success. Put your attention on how to make the world a better place and which steps YOU will need to take in doing so.

Your focus needs to be on how you will win. Your thoughts should be about how you will make the world better, and not how someone else has power over you because this will never be true. Viktor Frankl, author of Man’s Search for Meaning, proved this when he found his success after Nazis imposed imprisonment on him. He was trapped in a concentration camp, but made it through because he knew that only he had the control over his success or failure of his life.

You will fail. You will fall, but the sun will rise the next day with new opportunities, and I am here to tell you that no one, NO ONE is standing between your success and you, but YOU.

The success or failure of your life depends on you and only you alone.
