Be Careful of the Online Marketers

After a few months of working on my online business I developed trust issues.

When I started, there was a lot I had to learn and if you are starting a business or looking for information on all of this, I am sure that you have found that people are selling all of these solutions or pitching to you extravagantly.

You are just scrolling through Facebook and today’s latest guru is showing you how easy the online business game is with his Lamborghini. One way or another the online marketers will find you.

This of course isn’t a bad thing.

As you probably know, I am all for capitalism and people making money. Some of these people serve others in really honest and beneficial ways. This is good.

Yet, there are still others out there who are manipulative with their messaging or others who advertise a great deal and pitch the winning solution to you, but the majority of their customers are not winning. This is what I wish there were less of.

Unfortunately this happened to a friend of mine. My friend was working on his life coaching business. He got a certification and he was endorsed by Tony Robbins, but he couldn’t find any clients.

While he was scrolling on Facebook, one of these internet marketers found him. After watching a webinar, he signed up for a strategy call and then he was sold on an 8-week $10,000 program to help him get more clients.

From what I have seen and observed of this specific company they do in fact look like the best at what they do. They are great at marketing and actually they aren’t deceiving with their messages. Doesn’t seem like bad people to do business with, but the most important thing is that you, as the customer, get the results you are after.

This solution didn’t work for my friend. He invested $10,000 and to my knowledge he hasn’t even come close to breaking even on his investment.

The company might say that the results are on dependent on the client and that they have had tons of success with other clients, but in my talking with my friend, only about 1 out of 10 people in his training class were really making it.

These numbers are probably representative of most online businesses and not something I can really fault the company for in this situation.

As I have said before, you are the one person responsible for your own success. I learned this the hard way with a bad business coach myself, so I can talk about it.

The thing is, you have to be careful about finding what is right for you and what will lead to your success.

The marketers are going to market to you regardless. They are going to pitch to you on Facebook and tell you how great they are. They are going to show you the fancy cars and extravagant testimonials and case studies.

They are going to try to get you in their funnel and into their training courses. They are going to do whatever it takes to win your business and some will even be unethical, but what you have to do is take the time to do your research, not get emotional and make a good decision.

Ultimately, you will make the decisions that lead to your success.

This means that you have to do everything it takes to understand and know what is right for you and your business. The marketers will try to make you emotional and non-objective. They will try to sell you dreams. First, do your research.

This is the mistake I made. You must know that what you are about to learn from you new coach is something that your mentor is actually doing themselves. Are they actually winning in business or are they just saying it?

The salespeople are taught to get you into an emotional buying state on strategy calls. Don’t do this. Stay as objective as you can and never make a huge thousand dollar decision on a one-hour phone call.

If it is a big enough and important enough decision, then there is no reason why it can’t wait until after you had some time to think about it and make sure that it is the right choice for you.

When making your decision, look at how it will affect your life not only today, but in a few days from now, a few months from now, and a few years from now.

I myself, wouldn’t spend $10,000 on a coaching program. This is largely because I run a debt-free life and a debt-free business. These are my core principles and things that won’t change. This comes from knowing myself and what makes me happy. This knowing of yourself and your business has to be in place.

You must know what you are about and what your business is about. It might be the case where someday I need to expand my business greatly and need a thousand dollar program to do so, but knowing from my core that this is not a direction we need to go at this moment is what is important.

I just want you to make the best decisions for you and your business. Too many people make these emotional, huge decisions, that are based on need and scarcity rather than logic and being objective about where it will take your business.

It’s not to say that these internet marketers can’t help you, but just be careful. The ones who are winning are winning for a reason (skillful marketing), but if you will take your time and make good decisions with your business then this is how you can escape some of the awful consequences of finding the wrong internet marketer.
