6 Books That Will Change How You Think About Life

Very few books will come along in your life that will make you question what you are doing in life.

What I have learned is that sometimes it’s not so much important to learn all the new things that you can, but rather to challenge the learning’s that you already have.

These are books that have done that and will do just that for you.

The most important thing in growing, learning, and changing is finding new perspectives. While everyone’s perspective isn’t going to be right for you, by taking in all the different ideas can only expand your ability to move through the world.

I don’t know how things really are and many people have different opinions about many different things. While agreement isn’t necessary for personal growth, challenging your current mindsets is.

These books will challenge previous beliefs and mindsets.

What I have found is that with this challenge your current beliefs will get stronger and more empowered, or that you will see a new way to life.

1.) Unlimited Power by Tony Robbins

The 1986 book written by Tony Robbins is still a classic. You can find this book at used books for super cheap or on ebay for about five dollars. It is worth every penny. Tony goes through an introduction in Neuro-Linguistic Programming and then he inspires us with stories of personal greatness. This book is a must have!

The challenge here is thinking about life the same. With all the inspiration, skills, and knowledge Tony gives away, it’s almost impossible not to go towards the life you want.

2.) The 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss

Tim Ferriss shook the business world with his ideas on automated work, outsourcing, and many business ideas that have transformed today’s working world. In his book Tim challenges current beliefs about having a job and career and leads the reader through more empowering questions. Important questions to consider were what do you really want most in life and what is the quickest way to get there?

What left me most in this book is that by thinking differently about life, money, and business, then you have an uncommon ability to really get those things you want most in life.

3.) The Game by Neil Strauss

This book will transform how you view relationships. The story chronicles one man who labels himself as a nerd and details his journey through the underground pickup community towards being a ladies man. Along the way, common beliefs of how dating works, how attraction happens, and what it means to be successful in relationships is challenged.

While some may consider it to be controversial the important thing to look at is that people have the ability to improve themselves, their communication, and how they express themselves in order to better connect with the opposite sex.

4.) The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey

Dave Ramsey takes us back to old school financial fundamentals with his essential money guide. This book challenges current beliefs because of what the majority of society is currently doing with money. Whether it is financing vehicles or going into large amounts of debt when we shouldn’t, Dave looks at these things and develops a plan for us to get out of debt and to live more financially free.

Dave’s motto is “Live like no one else, so that later you can live like no one else.” What he teaches is to delay gratification and to plan for your dreams or they might not ever come true. Who plans for their dreams today?

5.) Outwitting the Devil by Napoleon Hill

I’m not sure if Napoleon Hill is talking with the Devil or not in this book, but the thoughts presented here if really understood will challenge most of society, the school systems, and many other thoughts that have just been accepted for years.

Hill details the causes of failure through his introspective talk with Satan. They postponed this book for over 70 years because of the controversy it would have presented in its time. These ideas will lead you on an introspective journey of the world we live in and will challenge the idea that you should be doing what everyone is doing. The take away is to decide, use your mind, and be definite about your life.

6.) The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

Eckhart Tolle started the mindfulness movement with this book and it challenges current advertising and the depths of influence in our society. If more of us live in the present there will be less problems and less need to stretch for more. Likely we would be happier living in the moment, but maybe we would buy less?

Tolle’s ideas have inspired millions and provide an amazing way for thinking about things and being in the world. This one mindset shift will allow you to be free from your thinking and give you a totally new perspective on your problems. If just more people were living in the moment life might just be a little more magical.

Notable mentions:

Trust Me I’m Lying by Ryan Holiday

Loving What Is by Brene Brown

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

The Millionaire Fastlane by MJ DeMarco

I have read all of these books and can highly recommend them to you.

Through reading these books you will find more angles and perspectives on life. While you don’t have to agree with any of them, they will help you see more viewpoints in life, and this can empower you, your current beliefs, or it might even change the foundation you see life from.

It is good to get new perspectives. Society grows from change, innovation, and new ideas. Embrace what you are not familiar with so that you can experience even more. With new perspectives you can see even more angles on life.
